Mrs. Sharman Ottley - Auditor General 14th March 2006 – 6th April 2015
Mrs Sharman Ottley was appointed Auditor General of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago by the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on 2006 March 14.
Prior to this appointment, Mrs. Ottley who joined the Auditor General’s Department in 1973 April as an Audit Senior, held the posts of Assistant Audit Director, Audit Director and finally, Assistant Auditor General, with effect from 1983 July. In these positions, Mrs. Ottley was responsible at various times for the audits of state enterprises, statutory boards and similar bodies and the accounts of the Central Government. She was also at one time the Accounting Officer and Receiver of Revenue for the Auditor General’s Department.
Mrs. Ottley has also performed on several occasions as Administrative Officer/Accountant of the Caribbean Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (CAROSAI) when the Secretariat for that organization was within the Auditor General’s Department. CAROSAI is a regional grouping of Supreme Audit Institutions (National Audit Offices) in the Caribbean which is within the international grouping of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
Mrs. Ottley has also served as a member of the Audit Review Committee of the Inter-American Board of Agriculture of the Inter-American Institute for Co-operation on Agriculture (IICA) for the period 2004 to 2009.
Mrs. Ottley completed her professional accountancy examinations in 1972 December. She is currently a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago.
